Is the cabin pressure harmful to the fetus?


Pregnant women should avoid traveling in small planes as the cabins are not pressurized. In commercial planes the cabin pressure is maintained at a level safe enough for women with healthy pregnancies.




The air pressure inflight is lower than on land which means your body has to work a bit harder to get a decent supply of oxygen. That said, both mother and baby should have no problems adjusting to lowered pressure found in the aircraft. Women with anemia, a history of blood clots or other circulatory related diseases should check with their doctors beforehand and consider giving up the idea of plane travel for the time being.
