Avocado Puree For Babies

Easily mashed, avocados can also be used as a base to mix with other fruits to make more interesting blends. Avocados are good brain foods as they contain the vital fats for developing the brain and central nervous system. It is also rich in nutrients such as iron, potassium and a good fiber source. A good tip to choosing avocados: choose ones that are dark green in color with wrinkle free skins. Roll the fruit around on the work table as this makes it easier to separate the flesh from the skin.
½ ripe avocado

1. Skin the avocado and seed it.

2. Ripe avocados are easy to puree with a fork. Otherwise use a hand blender

3. Serve on its own immediately (it browns rather quickly) or with some cereal and milk/water

4. Alternatively you can blend both banana and avocado to a pulpy state and serve immediately as both tend to brown if kept out longer.

5. To vary the dish and calcify it, add three tbsp of full fat plain yogurt to the mashed avocado and serve. A good way to introduce yogurt, an essential calcium food item to your baby's menu.
