Lentil and Vegetable puree

Lentils are a good source of protein. Red and yellow lentils cook rather quickly and may need minutes of soaking. This is a fairly simple and nutritious recipe which your baby will find yummy and filling.

Butter, small ginger piece

Chop the white part of the leek, carrot, sweet potato

Red or yellow lentils

Bay leaf for flavor, pinch of turmeric powder

1. Melt butter in a pan, add the leeks, ginger and bay leaf and sauté for about 3 minutes. Add in the chopped carrots and lentils and turmeric powder and cook for a further 5 minutes.

2. Next add the sweet potatoes, pour in the water and simmer over low flame till lentils and vegetables are tender

3. Remove the bay leaf and ginger piece, blend or mash the mixture to a puree. Older babies can be served as it is.
