What are the types of tantrums?

Tantrums are typically classified into two categories:

a) Anger-based tantrum

Anger tantrums are linked to behaviors such as hitting, screaming, stamping and kicking.

b) Despair-based tantrum.

Despair tantrums are typified by sobbing, throwing herself down to the floor and running away. One is a battle to get his own way and the other is a battle against the child's own developmental ability to do something. It is important to recognize the tantrum type which will then help parents to deal with the overwhelming feelings that children are undergoing.
