When you travel by Plane with toddler(s)
For many parents traveling by air can be rather challenging, nothing short of a nightmare! Some toddlers can have a terrifying experience and for parents, an embarrassing one. Vacationing takes a whole new meaning because both mum and dad will be on duty 24/7. Compared to a baby, a toddler will be more awake and aware therefore requiring full-time attention from you. Needless to say but the shorter the trip, the more manageable the task.
Things to consider before the trip.
• Before the actual vacation, a visit to the airport or the train station with your toddler to create some amount of familiarity may help reduce fears and anxiety on the departure date.
• When traveling the distance, make the time zones work for you instead of against you. Any trip which has a minimum of 2 hours time adjustment will mean that there will be adjustment involved to your child's schedules after reaching your destination.
• Some countries require visas (special stamp in passports to enter the country) so do your homework and make the arrangements after planning your destination as some countries take more time for such documentation.
• With security measures these days, you may need to buy foods from the airport shops rather than packing your own as most airlines do not serve meals on shorter flights. Check on this with the airline and airport, if such regulations apply. While you are at it, it makes sense to keep yourself updated on general security measures as well.
• Check on the facilities the airline has to offer before you make your booking.
