When you travel by Train | with toddler(s)

The first thing that comes to mind about train journeys are the wonderful sights and the ample space trains offer. There is no need to be strapped most of the time, no need to deal with cramped quarters as would be the case with air and road travel. You can walk down the aisles with your kid albeit with some caution. Even if the journey is long, it is more bearable than a car journey according to many parents BUT with an active toddler it can get tiring - be ready for that. As with other modes of travel, it is important to pack ample food and games or toys to last through the journey, along with your patience and a sense of humor. Watch over your child closely as they are supposed to stand away from the platforms and not too close to it.

Playing or running in the aisles is not only dangerous but annoying to other passengers. Encourage kids to be walk cautiously as they can be thrown off balance. For longer trips, consider taking a night train. As with car journeys pack healthy snacks in abundance since you won't be able to buy them on the train. Do not lug around too much luggage as porters aren't always available. Bring along a narrow stroller which you can use to walk your toddler up and down the aisle. Due to the varying temperatures you can request for pillows and blankets but only if you are on the night berth. For day trips be prepared to bring your own.
