True, abdominal pain can get in the way and discourage mothers from attempting breastfeeding. Inform your doctor so that suitable medication can be administered which will not affect your baby tremendously. In any case the benefits of Mother's milk are more important than the mild side-effect your baby may experience. Experiment different positions with the help of nursing staff. Your baby will need to lie in such a way that there is zero or minimal contact with the incision site. The most popular positions for nursing include sitting up with sufficient pillows on your lap to help bring your baby up to your breasts, the side-lying down position and the football position.
